FSDF Pathway Programme
As part of our development programme, Cold Move has recently participated in the FSDF Pathway Programme, which has resulted in 29 of our people receiving a qualification in Warehousing and Storage Operations accredited by City and Guilds. The programme which ran over several months allowed our operations staff the opportunity to receive a formal qualification from their role within the business.
The scheme which has been extremely successful has been well received by our people, and the support from the FSDF has been excellent.
Pictured at the presentation ceremonies on 12th April are the successful candidates, along with James Woodward, Managing Director, Chris Sturman CEO of the FSDF and Simon Williams who participated as an Assessor.

Cold Move Goes Solar
The Challenge
Cold Move have committed to reduce their carbon footprint across their entire business such that they have targeted a reduction of 25% by 2020 and aim to introduce innovative ways to improve on their goal. The first major project has been their solar one, at their Golborne site, which has given them a platform to build on and demonstrates Cold Move's commitment to environmental issues. The installationof 1077 solar panels offers them an excellent opportunity to generate sustainable energy. The installation has the capacity to generate up to 250 kwph of renewable electricity, spans some 100 metres in length covering nearly half of their warehouse roof and is believed the be the largest Solar installation in the North of England.
Our Solution
Eco Environments installed a Hyundai Solar PV system made of 1077 solar panels; this is the largest roof mounted system in the North of England Cold Move's Golborne site has reduced its Carbon Emissions by 108,000 tonnes per year through Solar PV. Their electricity costs will be reduced by approx. £20,000 per year.

Solar Panels
What Cold Move Said... The four week programme was delivered, on time, with very few issues, by Eco-Environments, who worked hand in hand with Cold Move to ensure an excellent standard of work. Following the success at Golborne, Cold Move are now considering the installation of a similar system on one of their other sites, along with other environmental initiatives. Managing Director James Woodward said "We have been delighted with the solar installation by Eco Environments at our Golborne depot and are already experiencing both the environmental and financial benefits of the system. "Our aim is to seek out further opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint and the introduction of low emission company cars and the potential of a wind turbine at one of our sites will help us go a long way in achieving and hopefully exceeding our environmental goal".
Continued BRC Success at Cold Move
PR thumbnailAt Cold Move we are proud of our excellent food safety standards and Quality Management System (QMS), and have recently rolled out a new Food Safety Manual across all our sites including a complete review of HACCP.
These developments have recently been thoroughly audited and we are proud to announce that Cold Move, Oswestry, has successfully passed the new BRC Global Standard for Storage & Distribution Issue 2.
The BRC accreditation, not only covers a full review of our HACCP system, QMS, facilities management, operating practices, buildings and personnel but also a review of the commitment from our senior management team to food safety.
Cold Move Gain BRC Certification
BRC logoTo demonstrate Cold Move's commitment to Quality Management and Food Safety, we have recently rolled out the BRC Global Standard for Storage & Distribution at our sites.
Both Oswestry and Golborne are now fully accredited to the BRC standard, with the scope covering, storage, distribution, blast freezing and tempering at Oswestry and our packing facility at Golborne.
The audits were a thorough inspection of our Quality Management System, HACCP, site facilities and standards, and was carried by NSF-CMi whom we have used for a number of years auditing us against their own technical standard for storage and distribution.
This success is further demonstration of the commitment Cold Move has to providing the highest level of standards and service to all of our customers.
Cold Move Gain EU Approval
Cold Move is pleased to announce that both their Oswestry and Golborne depots have been granted full EU approval under Regulation 853/2004 as a Food Business. The local enforcing authorities have been completely satisfied with our Quality Management Systems, HACCP plans, having inspected our sites and vetted our procedures to grant the approval. This is a further endorsement of the commitment we have as a business to food safety and delivering the highest level of service to all our customers. Cold Move already have the CMI higher level accreditation for storage and distribution.
